Indoor 25℃ and Outdoor 25℃

Itis another hot summer day. You subconsciously grab the remote control. The airconditioner is on. In just a few seconds, the room temperature is down to 25degrees Celsius. The room being cool enough; you bury your head in the novelagain.

Unnoticed, the night falls. The temperature outside is about 25 degrees Celsius. You aretold that by the weather broadcast. Feeling a little dry and hot, you arise toinhale some fresh air from outside the window. You suddenly feel strange. Whythe same 25 degrees Celsius indoors and outdoors gives you different feelings?

It’sprobably because your body temperature changes during the day and at night. That is to say, in the daytime, your body temperature is quite high, so indoor25 degrees Celsius may be cool for you; but when night falls, your bodytemperature decreases a little accordingly, so that indoor 25 degrees Celsiusmay seem a bit sultry to you. And because the air outside circulates morefluently, outdoor 25 degrees Celsius feels different from indoor 25 degreesCelsius.

Itmay also be claimed that outdoor 25 degrees Celsius is different from indoor 25degrees Celsius in that on hot streets, the environment radiates more heattowards human body while, inside a cool house, the radiated heat is far less asthe temperatures of the furniture, the walls etc. are in most cases below theroom temperature.

Also, when the temperature outside is 25 degrees Celsius, the surface temperature isusually above 25 degrees Celsius, but such phenomenon is relatively rareindoors, so that you may feel different when exposed to the same temperatureindoors and outdoors.

Still,it’s simply because when the temperature is the same indoors and outdoors, thesun will make you feel hotter while you are outside.

Whateverthe reason may be, here is an interesting experiment: When the temperature isthe same, let half of your body be indoors and half outdoors and see whatmiracle might happen. Maybe different body temperatures of the two halves ofyour body will bring you some magical power.
