One Special Night
I still remembered theday when I was in the Sai Kaew Island, Thailand. From winter to summer, from 5℃to 35℃, I suddenly experienced such a sudden change of climate and mood in lessthan four hours. Situated on the south Pacific, the island is full ofpassionate tropical features. It was getting night when I got on to the island. The yacht jolted forwards and back, and the smell of gasoline has robbed me ofappetite. Thespeed of the yacht downed, the roaring of engine became faint and some musiccame distantly. I removed my eyes to the seaside, and saw the yellow, red, orange, blue and purple lights twinkling along the seaside. As getting off theyacht, I was knocked backward by wave and got hurt hitting at edge of theyacht. I balanced myself by leading against the hull and then walked toward theshore. The sand was soft and softly held my feet. The vague lights became clearand music became louder. In front of a bar, a young couple were singing, beatinga wooden drum and playing the guitar; the music pervaded the air. Along theshore, bars, restaurants, and hotels with different styles stood side by side.Isoaked myself in the atmosphere of hilarity. It seemed that people living here have forgot everything that belonged to draband colorless city, but only hilarity itself. Things herewereall new for me and I wanted to experience all. I walked on, fast or slow, andthe beach in front of a bar was dotted with lamps casting a blue-purple lightover a big tree and making it a fairy tale world. A man was singing Thai songsbeneath the tree was enveloped in the hazy light. I tried to immersed in thesurroundings with every pore of my body open to the moist salty air and thesoft music. The music stopped with a soft tone, and I came back from thewonderland, and kept going on. The shore curved, and I saw the colorfulcoastline never has an end.
I stood. It’s impossibleto see all of them. My heart was patted with a wave of disappointment and was sank.I gazed at a distant the sky where several stars danced. It’s quiet. The skywas dark as ink. Holding my breath, I heard the sound of wave patting on theshore continuously like humming from the deep sea; I felt the moist sandkissing my feet and the salty wind blowing up my hair and my dress.
I calmed down andsatisfied, all feelings fleeing away, and nothing left.
Silenceis more than words at this moment.
