Ode of a Breeze
By YANG Li
I roamed lonely in a breeze, Drifting in the superficial metropolis. Along the train tracks did I see A field of serene white dandelions. Among which stood a thinly clad wife, Eyes brushing over the train as it whooshed by, Sending the dandelions fluttering into the sky. I saw the three plodding under the trees. The son was dragging a heavy portmanteau, Ready to start a journey far away, At his heels was the middle-aged couple, Wheels trundling on the street, Leaves falling from the trees, Hearts thumping in the chests. I skimmed past the window from a ward, With its white walls, white sheets. And the body in the bed wet by tears.
The pink carnations on the stand bedside Were also withering away from the world. I have seen too many partings, By life, or by death. When fleeing away from the depressing city, I saw joy, I heard laughter, I felt love In an austere house where Two kids were horsing around , An old man was sitting in a recliner. My heart was filled with pleasure, Because you had never left my side.
